Teacher's Guide (.PDF 736KB)High quality career information and instructional resources are vital to informed decision-making by students, educators, and parents. Events like the Eastern Manitoba Career Symposium can enhance students experience with career development programs and tools that are being used by schools.
This is the only event of its kind in Eastern Manitoba. It's more than a career fair. It's a comprehensive symposium hosting 50 industries, employers, post-secondary institutions, and trade associations.
An interactive Trades Showcase, put on by Winnipeg Technical College, will provide demonstrations of trades skills and give students an opportunity to try their hand at welding, carpentry, electrical applications and other trades. The Trades Showcase will be under the "Big Tent" behind the Rec Complex.
This year we have a well-known Keynote Speaker, Troy Westwood, who will motivate and inspire the audience at 12:00 noon in the Sun Gro Centre arena.
Career development doesn't just happen in the classroom. Research shows that parents have the most influence on their children's decisions about career choices and post-secondary education. That is why we strongly encourage parental involvement. The Career Symposium hours have been set to make it convenient for parents to attend either during the day or in the evening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
